What OUC information tells an Orlando homeowner

OUC supplies water in Orlando and portions of Orange County. It identifies the Lower Floridan Aquifer as its source and describes ozone treatment followed by chlorine use. Its current FAQ says it does not use chloramines.

OUC reports average hardness of 129 ppm, approximately 7 grains per gallon. That is a utility average, not a measurement at your faucet. Confirm your provider and test your home's hardness before choosing a softener.

Check your utility information

Choose treatment for the taps you want to improve

For spots and scale, compare softening capacity against measured hardness and peak household demand. Standard and XL combine softening and carbon; a separate carbon tank is another layout to review.

For a taste concern without a hardness-removal goal, discuss filtration separately. Kitchen reverse osmosis serves a dedicated drinking tap and does not replace whole-home softening.

Before installation, identify the main water entry, bypass access, available drain, power, and room to replenish salt. A photo of an existing system can help us review replacement options.
